Milestones!

Well, I can't remember if smiling is technically a milestone, but it's time we start hitting those with Hadley. She smiled for the first time this week! The doctor told us to expect smiles between 4-6 weeks (which was strange, because with Avery being a preemie it was 6-8 weeks, and she smiled at 7 weeks). Hadley has been smiling in her sleep (and laughing) quite a bit lately, but the other day I was looking at her hands and feet and when I looked at her face she was looking straight at me, smiling. I'm pretty sure I almost burst into tears and my heart melted. She's so pretty when she smiles. :)
So, since that day, Daddy has been trying to catch a smile. He was working pretty hard the other day and he got some good smiles and a little bit of cooing.
And today she smiled and cooed at my mom earlier this morning and Andrew's mom this afternoon - happy Grandmas for sure!

She's holding her head up a lot more lately also. And she's staying awake a lot more.

She's still doing great at night, which is awesome for me.

As for Avery, we are struggling with a little bit of night terrors/afraid of the dark. She keeps saying she's scared of the dark, even during the day she doesn't want to go into a room if the light isn't on. She said to me the other night she was afraid of scary monsters and mean unicorns (who has ever seen a mean unicorn by the way??). We can't tell if she's honestly scared or if it's a sort of acting out type of thing because of the little sister and adjustment she's dealing with. I don't think she's totally acting out or anything, because she is an awesome kid. But when she complains about it, she gets a lot of attention, which I believe is what she wants. So I'm trying to figure out how to help her not be scared, if she is in fact really scared, and also give her some attention. Avery and I are going to go get pedicures together this week, and now that things are settling and Hadley is going longer between feedings, I'm going to try to do some date nights with Avery to give her that attention.

Overall, both girls are doing great. And I am obsessed with the both of them - and completely head over heels!! :)
