Today was Avery's first official day of preschool! A few weeks ago, we went and did her screening, where they determined if she would go full days or half days. She goes to Miss McGill's class every day, Monday through Friday, from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm. Last Friday was orientation. She got to go through the milk line, eat breakfast, check out her classroom and take a short bus ride (with Mommy right by her the whole time). So today was our official day, where Andrew and I dropped her off for the first time. She's never been to daycare. The only thing close to this is dropping her of at Sunday School, and we're just right downstairs the whole hour and fifteen minutes that church lasts. So, this was a pretty big deal for us. There were absolutely no tears (on Avery's part anyway) and she went right in, sat down and started on a puzzle. Andrew and I gave her kisses and left her there. I swear, once I got home I just sat and watched the clock until it was time to go pick her up. Hadley and I were waiting outside and once the bell rang, we went right in to get her! And she was super happy to see us - she had her backpack and a big smile on her red face. She said she had just played outside and it was so fun. And she missed me, but would be able to come back to school tomorrow. Once we got home, she told me that if she didn't go back her friends would miss her... so that's why she has to leave me and Hadley and go back to school tomorrow.
I'm so glad she loved it. I know this will be good for her. She needs to be around other kids and used to following directions and playing nicely. I think this will really prepare her for kindergarten (which is only 2 short years away!). I can't believe how big she is... and I'm sure I'll have lots of future stories about preschool!
Aww..so glad she loved school! Nolan does, too! Where does Avery go then? (You can msg me if you'd rather not post it on here - being a teacher, I'd completely understand!
